About Dillon Opticians
Dillons has been on Yonge Street in North Toronto for well over 20 years. They have seen optical stores open and close around them over the years. Why does Dillon Opticians have this longevity? Here are two of the reasons:
Dillons is owned and operated by Audrey Dillon. Audrey has been in the optical business since 1971 and has held her optician’s license since 1974. Audrey was part of a focus group that fit the first progressive lenses in the GTA in the early 70’s. That’s experience!
“I was on my way to a career in nursing when I worked in an optical store. I was very fortunate to have wonderful mentors who convinced me to become an optician instead. I remember thinking when I had made the decision to become an optician, maybe I will get bored with this, explaining the differences between glass and plastic lenses, etc., however, the industry has grown with me. I love the challenge of being an optician today; with far more complexities to lenses and with all the options available to us to help our clients, it is a very technical and interesting field. I am rewarded every day by being able to troubleshoot my client’s visual problems and solve their needs.” – Audrey Dillon
Audrey, has in turn, mentored many opticians over the years.
When purchasing a pair of eyeglasses, have you ever asked yourself, “What are the qualifications of the person helping me?”
At Dillons, everyone serving you is a registered optician by the College of Opticians in Ontario. When purchasing glasses many factors should be taken into consideration. It is important that the frame choice is suitable for your prescription and that it correctly fits the face and head, to maximize your comfort and vision.
Dillons is a unique dispensary in that, since their inception they have sold solely one brand of lenses, Carl Zeiss. “We are experts in these lenses and our excellent results prove it!” says Audrey.
